Our Grüner Veltliner Äußere Bergen Weinviertel DAC Reserve 2023 1. ÖTW was rated 17.5 points by Julia Harding and Tara Q Thomas of Jancis Robinson. We are delighted with this great recognition. This makes our Äußere Bergen wine one of the best wines in the world!

The terroir of the Äußere Bergen
The Äußere Bergen is the southeasternmost vineyard in the municipality of Schrattenthal – a 26-hectare strip of primary rock soil. The ground consists of granite, which is covered with loess at an altitude of 280 meters. This combination decisively shapes the character of the wine. The grapes are hand-picked and then mature for 15 months in the barrel. With 13.5% alcohol and a total acidity of 5.4 g/l, a wine with structure and elegance is created.

What the experts write:
Julia Harding and Tara Q Thomas describe the wine as follows: “Pale, almost colorless. Slender, cool, firm, stony. A magnificent wine. Crisp and refreshing, a Grüner Veltliner with restraint.” The wine continues on the palate – cool, stony, clear and pure, like a cool mountain stream.
